Mukherjee Hardware

If you are around the Kalighat area, you might have seen us at 1 Lake Market. We are right on Deshapriya Park Road. It’s a small hardware store, really. We have been Mukherjee Hardware for a long time now. The shop is filled with all sorts of things, from nails and hammers to plumbing pipes and different types of tools. It can look a bit messy because we try to fit as much as possible onto the shelves. If you can’t find something, you usually just have to ask and I’ll dig it out from the back. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just walk in when their tap is leaking or they need to fix a door. The market gets very busy in the evenings, so it can be hard to find parking nearby. We mostly serve the families and local contractors who live around here. It’s a plain shop with wooden counters that have seen better days. We don’t go in for big advertisements. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the day to start. It’s honest work. Sometimes we run out of specific sizes of bolts, but we get new stock in every week. It’s just how a neighborhood hardware store should be, I think. Stop by if you need anything for your house. I usually have the radio playing in the background while I work. It’s not much, but it’s ours. The floor is concrete and the lights flicker a bit, but we like it fine.
