Mondal Brothers

Mondal Brothers is located at P 47, which is right behind the Lal Bazar Police Station on Rabindra Sarani. Being in this part of the city means it is incredibly busy. You can hear the sirens and the shouting from the street all day long. The shop itself is a family affair, and we’ve been squeezed into this space for years. There isn't much room to move around once the stock arrives, so we have to be very organized. We deal with a lot of different people every day, from shopkeepers to people just passing through. It’s a place that feels very lived-in, with old wooden counters and walls that could probably use a fresh coat of paint. We don't really care about the look of it as long as we can find what we need when a customer asks. There’s usually a pot of tea going somewhere in the back, and the smell of the city comes in through the open front. We spend a lot of time just talking and negotiating, which is how things work on Rabindra Sarani. It’s loud, it’s dusty, and it’s always moving. We are just two brothers trying to keep things running like our father did before us. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know, and the location is right in the middle of everything.
