We operate from two spots, one on Kali Krishna Tagore Street and the other on Cotton Street. Both are in very crowded parts of the market. It’s been a family thing for a long time. We handle different types of goods, mostly traditional trading. Between the two locations, there is a lot of running back and forth. Cotton Street is especially tight, with barely enough room for two people to pass sometimes. We keep our stock in old rooms with thick walls. It stays a bit cooler inside than out on the street. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here. It’s the kind of place where business is done with a handshake and a lot of talking. We don't use much technology, just the basics to keep track of what’s coming and going. The ledger books are still used alongside the computer. It gets very loud with the street vendors and the traffic. We usually have a pile of samples on the main table for people to look at. Sometimes we have to move stuff between the two streets using handcarts. It’s a lot of work but we are used to it by now. We don't put on any acts here. You come in, see what we have, and we figure out a price. That’s how it has always been for us. Most people know us by name. We just open up in the morning and stay until the shutters go down. The area is always hectic but we like the energy.
