Mondal Brothers 2

Mondal Brothers 2 is located right on Vivekananda Road, near the Manicktala Market. If you see the Bata shop, we are pretty much right across from it at number 187. This part of the city is always loud and full of people, which we’ve grown to like over the years. Our shop is a bit old-fashioned. We have wooden counters and shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. It’s not the kind of place with air conditioning and glass doors. We sell a variety of things, and the stock is always changing. Sometimes the piles of goods get a bit high, and you have to squeeze through the aisles. We know most of the regulars who stop by after visiting the market. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s usually a relative or two hanging around. We don’t use a computer for everything; some things are still written down in ledgers. It works for us. We aren't trying to compete with the big malls. We just provide what the local people need. Beadon St has a lot of history, and we feel like we fit right in. It’s a bit cramped and messy at times, but it’s home. We just keep the doors open and see who walks in. The ceiling fans hum all day and the tea guy comes by every afternoon. It’s a steady life and we’re satisfied with it.
