If you go to Homeland Mall over in Bhawanipore, you’ll find us on the fourth and fifth floors. We’re right across from Gaja Park, which is a nice landmark to give people when they’re lost. We spend our time surrounded by furniture and home stuff at No. 18 B Ashutosh Mukherjee Road. It’s a big space, so we do a lot of walking around between the two floors. Most days involve helping people look at sofas or trying to explain how a wardrobe might fit into their bedroom. It’s not always easy, especially when the mall gets crowded on the weekends. We have a bunch of us working here, some in sales and some who handle the deliveries and the heavy lifting. The lighting is bright, and there’s always a bit of dust to wipe off the tables. We don’t really do the fancy sales talk; we just show people what we have and tell them the price. Sometimes we have to move things around to make room for new items, which is a lot of work but it keeps the place looking different. It’s a decent place to work, and being in the mall means there’s always something to see. We just keep things simple and try to help out whoever walks through the door. It’s a lot of standing and talking, but it’s what we do. We try to be helpful without being pushy about it.
