Miraj Style Junction Saloon

I am writing this from our spot on Munshi Sadaruddin Street. We are right there in Burrabazar, very close to the Post Office. If you know this area, you know how busy it gets with all the trucks and people moving goods all day. The shop is just a small place where we do our work. We’ve got the usual chairs and mirrors. It is nothing fancy or like those big places in the malls. We just cut hair and do shaves for the people who work around here or live in the lanes. Sometimes it gets really crowded and people have to wait on the wooden bench outside or just stand near the door. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that stay on all day. The floor usually has hair on it because we are always busy, but we sweep it up when there's a break. I’ve been working here for years and I know most of the faces that walk in. We talk about the market prices or the weather while I work with the scissors. It’s a simple way to make a living. We don't have any big signs, just the name on the board outside. People find us because they’ve been coming here since they were kids or their fathers brought them. It’s just how it is in Burrabazar. We open early and stay until the market starts to quiet down at night.
