Mehta Associates

If you go down Canning Street and look for Chopra House, you’ll find us on the ground floor. Room 133 is where we spend our days. Mehta Associates is a small operation. It’s a bit of a maze in this building, with all the different rooms and businesses packed together in one place. Being on the ground floor helps because we don't have to wait for the lift, which is often broken or busy anyway. The office is small and filled with files. We’ve been here long enough that we know all the tea stalls nearby and which ones have the best snacks. It’s a busy part of the city. There’s always someone shouting or a cart being pushed past the window on the street. We mostly deal with local clients and people who have been coming to us for years. It’s not the kind of place where people wear suits. We just wear what's comfortable for the heat. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic with all the paperwork, but we have our own system for keeping track of things. Most of the furniture has been here since we first started. We don’t see the point in changing things if they still work fine. The lighting isn't the best, but we've got a couple of good lamps at the desks. We don't spend money on advertising or big signs. People usually find us by word of mouth or because they saw our door while walking through the building.
