Medical College Hospital

Our Medical College Hospital is located right at 88 College Street, and it’s a place that really feels its age in some spots. The brickwork on the outside has changed color over the years because of the rain and the city air. When you walk in, you’re usually met with a crowd of people. It’s a teaching hospital, so there are always groups of young students in white coats following doctors around. They look nervous sometimes, which is pretty normal I guess. The floor tiles are that old-fashioned speckled pattern, and some of them are cracked. We have a lot of fans running during the summer because the air conditioning doesn't always reach every corner of the wards. It creates a constant whirring sound that you just get used to. The desks at the nursing stations are cluttered with pens, half-empty water bottles, and stacks of charts. It’s not the most organized-looking place, but we know where everything is. We have a routine that involves a lot of walking and a lot of talking to families. Sometimes the coffee machine in the breakroom breaks down, and that’s a real tragedy for the night shift. It’s just a gritty, real-world place where a lot happens in twenty-four hours. We don't have fancy decorations, just some old clocks on the wall that don't always show the same time. It’s just our workplace at 88 College Street and it keeps us on our toes.
