Maruti Enterprises is tucked away at 126 Balaram Dey Street. It’s one of those old streets where you really have to know where you’re going or you’ll miss the entrance. The building has been there for ages, and it feels like it too. We don't have a big glass front or a neon sign. It’s just a regular door that leads into our workspace. Most of the time, the street outside is crowded with people and carts, so getting things delivered can be a bit of a headache. We have to time it just right. Inside, we do our thing without much fuss. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us making sure the orders are processed and the stock is counted. We don't go for any of that corporate talk. We just tell it like it is. If we’re running behind, we stay late to catch up. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking noise, but it works fine. We’ve known the neighbors for years, and we all kind of look out for each other. It’s a tight-knit spot in a very busy part of the city. We don't need much more than our tools and a bit of space to work. It’s been home for a long time and we wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the neighborhood.
