Our place is at No. 81/3A Bentinck Street. If you know Kolkata, you know this area is always crowded and full of life. Khadims India Limited has been around for a long time, and this particular spot is part of that history. It’s not a shiny new glass building. It’s a real place with old walls and the kind of character you only get in this part of the city. We spend our days here dealing with shoes and all the logistics that come with them. The street outside is noisy, with horns honking and people rushing by constantly. Inside, we just focus on the tasks at hand. There are boxes piled up sometimes, and the desks are covered in ledgers and notes. It feels like a workplace where people actually put in the hours. We don’t have a fancy lobby with a fountain. It’s just a door on Bentinck Street where the work gets done. Some of the staff have been here for years, and they know the neighborhood like the back of their hand. We drink chai from the stall nearby and keep the wheels turning. It’s a bit messy sometimes, and the fans might creak a little, but it’s home for us. We just keep moving forward, one day at a time, right here in the heart of the city. There is always the smell of old paper and maybe a bit of rain from the street. We just keep at it because that's what we do here.
