Ajanta Footwear Company

Our factory is located at 4 Ramlal Banerjee Road in Kolkata 36. We’ve been making footwear here for a long time. It’s an old building in a part of the city that has a lot of history. The streets around here are narrow and can be very crowded, especially when we are moving goods in and out. Inside, it’s a busy place with the sound of sewing machines and cutting tools going all day long. We make all kinds of shoes and sandals for everyday wear. We don't have a big, shiny office. Instead, we have workbenches and stacks of materials like rubber and synthetic leather. It’s a lot of hands-on work. Many of the people who work here have been part of the Ajanta family for years and live nearby. We focus on making shoes that are sturdy enough for daily use. It’s not a glamorous business, and it can get quite hot and loud in the workshop during the summer months. We don't spend much time on advertising. Most of our shoes go out to local markets and small shops. We like being on Ramlal Banerjee Road because it keeps us close to the heart of the city’s trade. There’s a lot of tradition in how we do things, and we don't see any reason to change that. We just keep our heads down, focus on the production line, and make sure every pair is boxed up correctly.
