Mamatha Hospital

Our hospital on Indira Road is a place most locals are familiar with. We have been here for years, and the building has seen better days, but it serves its purpose. If you walk down Indira Road, you will see our entrance right there among the other shops and houses. It is a general hospital, so we get a bit of everything coming through the doors. Some days it is just people with a common cold, and other days we have more serious cases that require someone to stay overnight in a ward. The floors are made of old stone that stays cool even when the weather outside is very hot. We have a small staff. We all know each other well. The morning shift starts before the sun is fully up because that is when the first groups of people arrive. I usually spend my time checking on the inventory of medicines or talking to the families waiting in the hallway. It can get a bit cramped when it is raining because everyone tries to crowd into the entryway. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just some old health posters that have been there forever. Life here is about the daily rhythm of checkups and recoveries. It is just a regular hospital doing its best for the people who live along Indira Road and the nearby streets. We keep the lights on and wait for the next person to come through.
