Our shop is small and sits right on the edge of the road. It’s a men’s shop, through and through. We have the usual black chairs and a long mirror that’s been there for years. The floor is tiled, which makes it easier to sweep up all the hair at the end of the day. I’ve worked in this neighborhood for a long time and decided to stay here because the people are good. We offer simple haircuts and shaves. No fancy styling or expensive products here. We use the same brands of shaving cream and aftershave that have been around forever. The smell of the shop is very familiar to anyone who grows up around here. In the afternoons, when it's hot outside, the shop is a bit of a refuge. We keep the door open to get a breeze, even if it brings in some dust. People stop by just to say hello even if they don't need a haircut. It’s that kind of place. We don’t have a big sign out front, just the name on the door. It’s a honest way to earn a living, and we take pride in doing a clean job with the scissors. There is no need for anything more than a sharp blade and a steady hand.
