Mahesh Hair Cutting Saloon

Our place is called Mahesh Hair Cutting Saloon and we are over in Cossipore. Specifically, we are at Banamali Chatterjee Road, Kolkata 700002. It is an older part of the city, so the streets are narrow and the buildings have a lot of history. The shop is just a single room with a high ceiling. We have a couple of chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years. The walls have a few old posters on them, mostly just for decoration. We don't have an air conditioner, just a big pedestal fan that hums throughout the day. People come in from Banamali Chatterjee Road to get a quick shave or a trim before they head to work. It is a quiet kind of place compared to the main roads. You can hear the neighbors talking from their balconies sometimes. We keep our tools in a small drawer and use a stone to sharpen the razors. It is the way things have been done here for a long time. There is no rush in our shop. We take our time and talk about the weather or the price of fish at the local market. It is a local barber shop where everyone is welcome to sit and rest for a bit. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people walking past and seeing the open door.
