Maa Tara Store

Maa Tara Store has been part of Kalpukur Road for a while now. Our address is 1, Kolkata 700002, and if you know this part of town, you know it gets quite crowded. We spend most of our time just making sure the shelves aren't empty. It is a lot of lifting and moving boxes around. The morning air in Kolkata is usually heavy, and by the time we open the shutters, the street is already waking up. We aren't trying to do anything big or special here. We just run a small shop. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit in the dark for a bit talking. It's just how things go. Being at number 1 on this road means we see everything that happens outside. The tea stall nearby smells good in the afternoon. We mostly just focus on the work. My hands are usually a bit dirty from handling all the packets and bags. We don't have a website or anything like that, just this physical space. People come in for small things and we look for change in the drawer. It's a lot of small talk about the weather or the price of things going up. We stay until late evening most days. The street lights reflect off the puddles when it rains. It is just a normal life at Maa Tara Store. We don't change much. We just keep the door open and wait for whoever needs something next.
