You can find M. N. Shoes & Accessories at 297/F on Acharya Prafulla Chandra Road. It’s a very busy street, so there is always the sound of horns and engines in the background while we work. We deal with shoes and all sorts of different accessories. Our shop isn’t huge, but we make use of every inch of space we have available. Shelves go all the way to the ceiling and we have boxes stacked in every corner of the back room. Working on such a major road means we see all kinds of people passing through our doors. Some are in a real rush and others just want to browse for a while. We try to help everyone who walks in. We don’t have any fancy marketing strategies or sales teams. We just put our items in the window and hope they catch someone’s eye. A lot of our day is spent cleaning the glass, moving stock around, and checking what we need to order for next week. Standing all day can be tiring, but it’s just part of the trade. We’ve been here long enough to know the other shop owners on the block. We look out for each other when things get busy or the weather is bad. We don’t talk like corporate people. We just tell you what the shoes are made of and what they cost. It’s an honest way to run a business.
