M. K. Cottage Industries

M. K. Cottage Industries is located at 55 B Shyampukur Street. It’s an old building on an old street. We do small-scale manufacturing here. It’s the kind of place where you can hear the sounds of work from the sidewalk. We don’t have any big machines or a lot of employees. It’s just a few of us doing things by hand or with simple tools. The space is a bit dark and smells like the materials we use. We’ve been in this spot for years and the street hasn't changed much. People in the neighborhood know us well. We don't do any big advertising. Mostly, we just fulfill orders for people who have been coming to us for a long time. It’s a quiet life, mostly. We open up in the morning, do our work, and close when the sun goes down. Sometimes we have to move stuff out onto the street to make more room inside. It’s a bit of a squeeze. We don’t really care about being modern or having a fancy storefront. We just care about finishing the tasks we have for the day. Shyampukur Street is a good place to be. It has a lot of history and we feel like a small part of it. We just keep making our products and taking it one day at a time.
