If you ever find yourself near Shinthi More at the Dum Dum side of B T Road, you might have seen M B R Saloon. It’s a busy intersection and there is always something going on outside. We have been here for a good number of years. The shop is a bit old-fashioned, maybe. We have the big mirrors and the heavy chairs that have been here since I can remember. Kolkata is a city that loves its tea and its talk, and we get plenty of both here. Customers come in and talk about the football scores or the price of fish while they wait. We are right there on B T Road, Kolkata - 700050. It’s a convenient spot for people living in Shinthi More. Sometimes it gets so noisy with the horns outside that we have to shout a bit to be heard. But you get used to it. The floor is usually covered in hair by mid-afternoon because we don’t always get a chance to sweep until there’s a break. We do our best to keep things moving. It’s just a small business, nothing like those big malls. We know most of our customers by name and they know us. It’s a steady kind of life. We don’t have fancy stuff, just the basics for a clean cut. That’s how we like it and how the locals like it too.
