We are located at No.200, Dakshindary Road. The workshop is inside the Bird Jute Mill Compound. It is an old place with high ceilings and a lot of history. My father started this because he enjoyed working with wood and glass. Most days it is just a few of us here. We spend our time measuring frames and cutting glass to fit whatever art people bring in. It gets quite dusty when the saws are running, so we spend a lot of time sweeping up. The compound has a specific smell of old stone and sawdust. We have been here for a long time now. Some days are busy and some are quiet. We do not have a fancy showroom for people to look at. It is mostly a practical workspace where we get things done. You have to walk past several other businesses in the mill to find our door. We know the people working nearby quite well. Sometimes the traffic on Dakshindary Road is a bit much in the morning. We just keep our heads down and focus on the frames. It is a steady way to live. We like being part of this local area. There is always glass to clean and wood scraps to clear away before we head home. We just try to do a decent job every single day. It is a simple life for us.
