Lila Dipa Salon

Lila Dipa Salon is right in Milon Bazar Ghosh Para. If you know the Milon Bazar area, you know it’s a lot of small shops and people selling things. We are just one of those little spots along the way. The shop is near Milon Bazar itself, so there is always the smell of food or the sound of people haggling nearby. Inside, it’s quite cramped but we make it work for the customers. We have two or three chairs and a small bench for people to sit on while they wait. The mirrors are old and have those dark spots around the edges, but they’ve seen a lot of faces over the years. We keep our combs in a jar and there’s always a pile of towels that need washing in the back. The walls are a bit dark because of the dust from the street, but that’s just how it is in this part of Kolkata. People come here because it’s convenient and they know we've been here a while. We don’t do anything special, just the regular stuff people ask for when they walk in. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait a bit or use a light. It’s a very local vibe, where people just talk about the market prices or the local football matches. We just do our work honestly and head home from Ghosh Para at the end of the day.
