K.C. Mookherjee & Sons

K.C. Mookherjee & Sons has been at 125 Vivekananda Road for quite a long time. It is an old part of the city and our building shows its age a bit. We are a family-run place, as you can probably tell from the name. My father and brothers have all spent time here over the years. The shop is usually cluttered with all sorts of things we have collected or worked on. We don't really have a modern filing system or anything like that. Most of the information is in our heads or scribbled in old notebooks we keep near the front. Vivekananda Road is always busy with people and cars, so there is a lot of noise outside our door. We don't really mind it since we are used to the rhythm of the street. It’s not a fancy shop with air conditioning or glass doors. It’s a place where work actually happens. People come to us because they know we have been here forever. We don't do any big advertising or try to look bigger than we are. It’s just us, sitting at the old wooden desks or working out back. Some days it is quiet and we just drink tea and talk to the neighbors who stop by. Other days it’s a bit of a rush to get things finished. We just take it as it comes and stay at 125 until the sun goes down.
