Ma Tara Marbles

If you head down Rajarhat Road towards Jyangra Khalar Math, you’ll find Ma Tara Marbles at number 145. It’s right there at Gobinda Nibas. We have been here for a while now, surrounded by the usual noise of the road and the trucks passing by. The yard is mostly filled with stone slabs and pieces of marble leaning against each other. It gets pretty dusty, especially when the wind picks up from the open fields nearby. We spend a lot of time just counting the stock and making sure everything is where it should be. It’s heavy work, mostly moving these slabs around so people can see the colors and the patterns properly. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us here every day, usually starting early before the sun gets too high. Sometimes the rain makes things a bit messy out in the yard, but that’s just how it is working with stone. The neighbors know us by name, and we mostly deal with people from the surrounding blocks who are fixing up their homes. It isn't a flashy place with bright lights or a big showroom. It’s just a practical spot where the work is steady and the tea is usually hot. We keep the ledger on the small desk near the entrance and try to keep up with the orders as they come in. That’s pretty much our day.
