Joy Matadi Shop

Our shop is on Monojondra Dutta Road in the Dum Dum area of Kolkata. We are at number 3, and you can’t really miss us because we are quite near the old Narendra Cinema Hall. That hall is a bit of a landmark around here. Kolkata is a city that never really stops, and Dum Dum is especially crowded most of the time. We sell a variety of things at Joy Matadi Shop. It is a bit of everything, really. You might find incense sticks, household items, or even some small toys for kids. The road outside is always full of rickshaws and people rushing to the station. We like the energy, even if it gets a bit overwhelming in the evenings. The shop is old-fashioned. We have wooden counters that have been here since we opened. There is a picture of the goddess on the wall, and we start our day with a small prayer. It is just how we do things. We are not trying to be a supermarket. We like being a local shop where we can talk to the people who live in the lanes behind the main road. Sometimes the monsoon floods the street a bit, and we have to move everything to the higher shelves. It is just part of life in Kolkata.
