Jhantu Saloon

Jhantu Saloon is located in Sukanta Nagar, which is over in the Saltlake area of Kolkata. Specifically, we are on Saltlake Road, near Bidhan Nagar. The pin code is 700010. Saltlake is a big place, but Sukanta Nagar has its own feel. Our shop is pretty basic. It is just a regular saloon where people come when they need a haircut. We don’t have a lot of space, but we make it work. There are a few chairs and the usual tools we need for the job. It’s a very straightforward operation. We open up early and stay open until the last customer leaves. It’s mostly local residents who come by. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, so we know the street very well. It is not a fancy place with music or anything like that. Usually, it’s just the sound of the scissors and maybe a radio playing softly in the background. People come here because they know what to expect. It is affordable and we don’t try to sell anyone anything they don’t need. It gets hot in the summer, but the fans do their job. We are just a small part of the neighborhood, doing our bit every day. It is honest work and we are happy to be here in Sukanta Nagar. Even when it is raining hard, we usually have the lights on for whoever needs us.
