Jayco Export Pvt Ltd is on the ground floor of Commerce House, which is at 2 Ganesh Chandra Ave in Dharmatala. If you’ve ever been to this part of town, you know it’s one of those old buildings with a lot of history and very heavy doors. Being on the ground floor is lucky because we don't have to wait for the lift, which can be a bit temperamental. The office has those high ceilings that you only see in these older places. It’s a bit dark inside even during the day, so we have to keep the tube lights on all the time. There’s a lot of paper moving around here. We have files stacked up on the desks and some old metal cabinets that creak every time you open them. Outside on Ganesh Chandra Ave, the buses are always honking and people are rushing around. You can feel the vibration of the heavy traffic sometimes. We just sit here and do our bits. It’s not a shiny new office with a coffee machine and a lounge. We just have a kettle for tea and some plain biscuits in a tin. It’s a straightforward place where we get the work done. It might look a bit cluttered to an outsider, but we know where everything is. That’s just how Jayco Export operates. We stay busy with the paperwork and just deal with whatever the day brings to the door.
