J K Saloon

Located at 12 Block-D on Bangur Avenue Road, J K Saloon is a small fixture in this neighborhood. We are tucked away near the Bangur Girls School, so the area gets quite lively during the afternoons when classes are over and parents are waiting around. The shop is a basic room with three chairs and a long counter where we keep our razors and spray bottles. We don't have any flashy advertisements or modern decor; it is just a plain space for hair cutting. The walls are decorated with a few old calendars and maybe a picture of a deity with some faded flowers. Our ceiling fan makes a rhythmic clicking sound that we have all grown used to over time. We get a mix of people coming in, from young students to older men who have lived in Bangur Avenue their whole lives. There is a small bench against the wall where customers can sit and chat while they wait for a chair to open up. We usually talk about the cricket scores or the local gossip while we work. It’s a small-scale operation, and we take things one customer at a time. The routine is the same every day, from opening the door in the morning to sweeping up the last bits of hair before we head home in the evening. It’s just how we have always done things here, and we don't plan on changing it.
