Hotel Rutt Deen

Our place, Hotel Rutt Deen, is over on Loudon Street, right in that 21-B spot. Kolkata can be a real handful sometimes with the traffic and the noise, but this street is a little different depending on what time of day you're walking around. We’ve been operating here for a good while. It’s just a regular building, nothing that’s going to win any awards for fancy architecture, but it works for what we need. The rooms are what you’d expect for a place in the city. We try to keep the dust off the furniture, though in this city, that’s a losing battle most days. You’ve got the 700016 pin code area which is pretty central to a lot of things. We see all sorts of people coming through. Some are here for a night because they have a meeting nearby, and others stay longer. We don’t have a big fancy lobby with fountains or anything like that. Just a desk where someone sits to help you out. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow or the water takes a minute to get hot, but we fix things as fast as we can when they break. It’s a bit of a walk to the main markets, but not too bad if the weather is okay. We just focus on keeping the beds made and the fans spinning for whoever stops by. It can be a little damp when the rains come, but that’s just Kolkata for you. We just keep going.
