Hamlyn Grande Footwear

Hamlyn Grande Footwear is tucked inside the Metro Plaza Shopping Complex. We are in the section between 2017 and 2023, which is near the Tata Centre side of the building. Metro Plaza is a place with a lot of energy, and we fit right in with all the other shops. Our space is filled with boxes of shoes from the floor to the ceiling. You can usually smell the leather as soon as you walk in. We spend the whole day helping people find the right fit, which means a lot of bending down and tying laces. It’s a practical job. The floor is tiled and sometimes gets a bit slippery if it’s raining outside and people bring in water on their umbrellas. We don't have any fancy seating, just a few stools for customers to sit on while they try things on. The lights are bright because people want to see the color of the shoes clearly. Sometimes we have to climb a ladder to get a specific size from the top shelf. It’s a lot of physical work, moving boxes around and making sure the display looks decent. Being near the Tata Centre means we get a mix of office workers and shoppers looking for something new. We just stay busy with the shoes and the customers who walk through Metro Plaza Shopping Complex.
