Gopal Saloon

This is Gopal Saloon, located in Gouranga Nagar over in the Sabuj Pally area. It is a quiet corner of Kolkata compared to the main roads, and we like it that way. The shop is small and tucked into the neighborhood where people live and walk their kids to school. I have been here doing this work for a long time. It isn't a fancy place with bright lights or expensive products, just a simple room with mirrors and the smell of talcum powder and shaving cream. Most mornings I come in, sweep the front, and wait for the first customer to show up. Usually, it’s someone living just a few houses down. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the name on the front that everyone around here recognizes. It is the kind of place where people stop by just to say hello even if they don't need a haircut that day. Life in Sabuj Pally moves at its own pace, and we just fit into that. I do the cutting and the shaves myself. Sometimes it’s busy, sometimes it’s just me sitting by the radio listening to the news. It is honest work and it keeps me busy enough to pay the bills.
