Gopal Metal Works

Gopal Metal Works is tucked away in Jate Shibrampur Sarada Park in Maheshtala. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren't from around here, but we are near the Trunk Road, close to Jhalkhura and Memanpur. The neighborhood is a mix of houses and small shops like ours. We mostly work with metal, which means there is a lot of banging and clanging coming from our unit throughout the day. People in Majherpara probably know the sound by now. Inside, it’s mostly just metal sheets, pipes, and the tools we use to shape them. We don't have any air conditioning or a polished showroom. It’s just a workshop where we do the work. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings, and we spend a lot of time sweeping those up so nobody trips. We started Gopal Metal Works because we knew how to work with our hands. Every job is a bit different, depending on what a person needs made. Some days we are working on small gates, and other days it might be something bigger for a local project. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know the trade. We just try to do an honest job and make sure the metalwork is solid before it leaves the shop. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy. We just take it day by day here in Maheshtala.
