Baid Marble & Tiles

Out here in Garia, near Kamal Gazi, we run our tile and marble shop. It's a dusty business, honestly. If you come by Mahamayatalla, you'll see us. We have heaps of slabs stacked up and different tile patterns everywhere you look. People from the neighborhood come in when they are fixing their bathrooms or doing up a new kitchen. We spend a lot of time showing people the difference between various stones and how they wear. It's heavy work moving these things around all day. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons. We have been in Pratapgarh for a good bit now. My clothes usually have some white dust on them by the end of the shift. It’s a local spot, nothing like those big showrooms in the city center. We keep a variety of stock, from the basic floor tiles to some of the fancier marbles. Sometimes the trucks arrive late and we have to stay back to unload everything by hand. It’s just how the trade works. We don’t have fancy coffee machines or anything, just a chair and some samples to look at. People know us around here. We just try to provide what's needed for the local houses being built. Rain makes the yard a bit muddy, but we keep the indoor stock dry and clean enough for customers to see the colors properly. Most days are long but it's okay. We keep the kettle going for anyone who stops by.
