Gardenia Hotel

This hotel is over on Sarat Bose Road, right at 42/1B, near the Laxmi Narayan Mandir. It’s a very old part of the city, and the street is always full of people going to the temple or walking toward Lala Lajpat Rai Sarani. We have guests coming from all over, some staying for just a night and others staying for weeks. The building has that old Kolkata feel to it, with high ceilings and some narrow hallways. We don't have a big lobby, just a small desk where someone is usually sitting. The noise from the temple bells and the traffic outside is just part of life here. We try to keep the rooms clean, though the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint soon. The staff has been here for years, and they know all the shortcuts around the neighborhood. We don't have a big kitchen, so breakfast is usually something simple and quick. People like being here because they can walk to the temple or get a taxi easily on the main road. It’s not a fancy place with a pool or anything like that. It’s just a place to sleep and keep your bags while you’re out in the city. Sometimes the lift is a bit slow, so we tell people to just take the stairs if they can. We just keep the registers going and the keys ready.
