Galaxy Marble Junction Pvt. Ltd. is situated near Science City on the Basanti Highway. The exact location is Arupota Road, which sits right on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. We are quite close to P C Chandra Garden, so that’s a good landmark to look for. This is a large place because we handle a lot of marble and stone. The yard is usually buzzing with the sound of trucks coming in and out. Being on the bypass means there is never a quiet moment with all the highway traffic going by. We’ve been here for several years, and the place has grown over time. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between the different sections of the yard to show people the various slabs. We don’t have a polished corporate office. Most of our time is spent out where the stone is kept. The marble is heavy and needs careful handling so it doesn't chip. My boots are usually white with stone dust by the end of my shift. We just try to keep things organized as best as we can, even though it’s a tough environment. We have a crew of guys who handle the loading and unloading. It’s a busy life here on the Basanti Highway. People from all over the city come here to pick out stone for their floors. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day.
