Free Lance Consultant

My workspace is located in Birendra Bhawan, right on 161 Roybahadur Road. If you are familiar with the Behala side of Kolkata, you know the traffic can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes. But once you get inside the building, it’s not too bad. I’ve been operating as a free lance consultant from here for a while. The walls are thick and it feels like an old Kolkata house. I have my books and my computer set up in one of the back rooms. Being in Westbengal, the humidity is something I just have to deal with every single day. I usually have the fan on full speed while I work on my assignments. There is a sweet shop just a few doors down that makes it hard to stay on a diet. 700034 is a busy pin code, but I’ve lived here long enough that the noise of the rickshaws doesn’t even bother me anymore. I don’t have any fancy corporate furniture or a coffee machine. I just make my own tea in the kitchen. It’s a very basic setup, really. People sometimes struggle to find the entrance to the bhawan because the sign is a bit faded, but I’m always here. I like the independence of working for myself. It means I can start late if I want, as long as the work gets done eventually. This old building has a lot of history, and I feel comfortable in it.
