F. Hussain & Brothers

Our office is at 33/1, N.S. Road, which is right in the heart of all the commercial action. It’s an old building, like most things on this street, and the walls have seen a lot of history. Being on Netaji Subhas Road means we are always surrounded by the sound of trucks unloading and people shouting across the pavement. We are a group of brothers running this, and we’ve been at it for a long time. The space is a bit cramped because we try to fit as much stock as possible into the rooms. Every corner is used for something. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting area; you just walk in and find one of us behind a stack of papers or boxes. Most of our day is spent on the phone or talking to vendors who bring in supplies. It’s a lot of physical work, moving things around and making sure the orders are ready for pick-up. The light isn't the best inside, so we keep the big doors open to let the street light in. We know the tea sellers and the other traders on this block very well. It's a tough environment sometimes with the traffic and the noise, but we are used to it by now. We just focus on getting the work done and making sure we don't mix up the deliveries for our customers. It’s just how we’ve always operated and it works for us and our brothers.
