Our little spot is over on Deshpran Shasmal Road in Kolkata. It’s a busy street, number 55/C to be exact, and we’ve been running Espee Boutique from here for a good while. Inside, it’s mostly just fabric, thread, and people trying to figure out the best way to put things together. We don’t have a big showroom with bright lights; it’s more of a place where things actually get made. You’ll usually find someone at a sewing machine or cutting out patterns on the big tables. Kolkata is a city that loves its clothes, so there’s always something new to work on. Sometimes the shop feels a bit cramped because we have so many rolls of cloth everywhere, but we know where everything is. It’s a bit noisy with the traffic outside and the machines inside, but you get used to it. We aren't trying to be some high-end fashion house; we just like making things that people can actually wear. The staff here has been with us for a long time, so we’re more like a family than a big company. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the designs while we work. It’s honest work, and we enjoy seeing a piece of clothing come together from just a bit of fabric. If you’re ever in the area, you’ll see our sign out front.
