Draffodil Main Saloon

Down here on 10, Beadon Street, things move at their own pace. Draffodil Main Saloon has been a part of this corner of Kolkata - 700006 for as long as I can remember. The building is old, and the walls have seen a lot of faces come and go over the years. It’s not one of those modern places with bright white lights. We have the old-style chairs that are actually comfortable to sit in. Every morning, we open up the shutters and let the street noise in. Beadon Street is always noisy, but inside here, it feels a bit different. We mostly see the same people every month. They come in, take a seat, and talk about what’s happening in the city. It’s more of a place to catch up than anything else. We handle the usual hair cutting and shaving. Nothing too stylish, just what people need to look decent. Sometimes the water takes a minute to get going, and the mirrors have a few spots, but it works for us. We don't spend money on fancy decorations. The focus is just on the work at hand. You might have to wait a bit if it's a Saturday, but nobody really minds. We just keep the scissors moving and make sure everyone leaves looking better than when they walked in. That’s how we’ve always run things here at number 10 on Beadon Street. It's just home.
