About Diana Ceramics – Building & Construction Material in Kolkata
We've been at No. 1 Ambika Mukherjee Road for a while now. It’s a busy spot but we like it here. People come in looking for plates or tiles mostly. Sometimes they just want to see what’s new on the shelves. It gets a bit dusty with all the ceramic pieces sitting around, but that's just part of the job. I spend a lot of my morning unpacking crates and checking for cracks. You have to be careful with this stuff because it breaks so easily. My father used to say that ceramics have a life of their own. We don't do anything fancy here. We just show people what we have in stock and tell them the price. If someone needs a specific color for their bathroom or kitchen, we try to find it in the back room. It’s a small space, so things get piled up pretty high. Sometimes the tea lady stops by and we have a quick break before the next person walks in. It’s mostly locals who stop by, people from the neighborhood who know where we are. Dealing with clay and fired goods is messy work, but it keeps us busy. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the door open on the street. It’s a simple way to make a living and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the road outside. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop around, just a place that stays open.
