Daisey Parlour

If you walk down Private Road in Motijhil, you’ll find us at number 282. Daisey Parlour is a small spot where local women come to get their threading or hair done. It’s tucked away a bit, so it’s not as noisy as the main roads in Kolkata. The space inside isn’t very large, but we’ve managed to fit in what we need. There are usually a couple of us working here, especially on weekends when everyone wants to look nice for a wedding or a party. We do the basic stuff like eyebrows, waxing, and hair cuts. Sometimes the water pressure is a bit slow, or the light flickers, but we make it work. It feels more like a neighbor's house than a business most of the time. Clients come in and talk about their day or their kids while we work. It’s a bit of a break for them, I think. We don't have any of those expensive machines or fancy products you see in the malls. We just use what works and try to do a decent job so people come back next month. There's often a bit of a wait, so we have a few old magazines lying around on the table. It’s just a plain, honest parlour for the ladies living around Motijhil who need their regular grooming done without spending too much.
