Chyaplin Saloon

Chyaplin Saloon has its home in Shyambazar, right on Shyambazar Road. This is one of the oldest parts of Kolkata, and you can feel it in the air. The buildings around us have so much history. Our shop is part of that old feel. It’s a narrow space with high ceilings that have some old wooden beams. The mirrors we use are large and have been here since the shop first opened, and they have that antique look with a bit of spotting. Modern machinery isn't really our thing, as most of what we do is manual work. The smell of the shop is a mix of shaving cream and old paper. Regular customers have been coming here since they were young men, and now they bring their grandsons. It’s nice to see the generations pass through. The street outside is always full of life, with the tram tracks nearby and people rushing to the market. Sometimes it’s so loud we have to shout to be heard, but that’s just Shyambazar for you. We don't have a fancy website or a phone for bookings. You just come in, wait your turn, and have a chat while we work. We usually sit on the bench outside for a bit of fresh air when there's no one in the chair. It’s a simple arrangement that has worked for us for a very long time now.
