Serampore is where we set up BSL OVERSEAS CORPORATION. Specifically, we are at 22/A on Bhaduri Lane. It is one of those narrow streets where everyone knows everyone else. Doing overseas business from a spot like this might seem a bit odd to some people, but it works for us just fine. We have been here for a long time, and the building has seen better days, but it is sturdy enough for our needs. Inside, it is mostly desks covered in files and samples of the stuff we ship out. There is always someone running around trying to find a specific document or checking the schedule for the shipping ports. Dealing with overseas stuff means our clocks are always a bit off compared to the rest of the neighborhood. Sometimes we are here late at night or really early in the morning because of the different time zones. Bhaduri Lane gets very quiet after dark, but our lights are often still on. We do not have a big lobby or a receptionist in a suit. It is just a few of us who know the trade well. You might find some old posters on the walls and a lot of empty chai cups sitting around. It gets quite humid here, especially in the summer months, but we have some fans that do the trick. We just handle the logistics and make sure the goods get where they need to go. It is honest work and it keeps us busy.
