Our place is on Shibdas Bhaduri Street. It’s quite close to the Shyambazar Talkie Show House, which is a big landmark around here. Because of the cinema, there are always people moving about. This shop is a bit different from the others because we do hair and some beauty work too. It’s not just for men. We have a section for women as well. The shop is cozy, maybe a little cramped when we have a lot of customers. We have a few hair washing stations and mirrors with lights around them. It’s not the most modern equipment, but we know how to use it well. We get a lot of ladies from the nearby houses who come in for a quick threading or to get their hair done for a wedding. The staff are all locals who have lived in the Shyambazar area for years. We don't have a big fancy reception desk. You just walk in and tell us what you need. Sometimes we are all talking at once and it gets a bit loud, but it’s a friendly kind of noise. We use standard creams and hair colors that we buy from the local wholesale market. It’s a practical business. We don't try to act like we are in a big city center mall. We are just a neighborhood shop providing what people need.
