Bigboss Hotel

We are located over at 11/1A, Sarojini Naidu Sarani, which most people still call Rowdon Street. It’s in the Circus Avenue area of Kolkata. Running a hotel in this part of the city means things are never really quiet. We have people checking in at all hours of the night. The lobby is small and we usually have someone sitting at the desk waiting for the phone to ring. We spend a lot of time checking the rooms and making sure the laundry is getting done. Sometimes the elevator has a mind of its own and we have to apologize to the guests. It’s an old building in some ways, so there is always something that needs a bit of paint or a light bulb changed. We don’t have a huge staff of people in uniforms. It’s more of a local operation where we all do a bit of everything. The street outside is always full of yellow taxis and people walking by. We try to keep the noise out but Kolkata is a loud city. We’ve been at this spot for some years now. Some guests come back every time they are in town, and we know them by name. It’s just about keeping the beds made and the water running. We don't pretend to be a five-star place, just a decent spot to stay when you are in the city.
