We’ve been here at 71/1 Humayun Kabir Sarani in Block B for quite a while now. Most people in New Alipore know the spot, right near the college. It’s a busy corner. Every morning, the staff starts trickling in around the same time, usually complaining about the traffic on the way. The building itself has seen a lot of seasons. Sometimes the elevators are a bit slow, but we make do. People come in with all sorts of things, mostly looking for some help or just to get their checkups done. We don't really have those fancy lobby lights you see in the big corporate places, just the regular stuff that works. The tea stall right outside is where most of us head when there’s a break. It's funny how you get used to the noise of the street after a few months. The rooms are plain, and we try to keep the chairs in the waiting area somewhat organized, though they move around a lot when families come in groups. It gets loud around noon. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. It’s not a glamorous place, but it’s ours. You see the same faces every week, mostly the locals from the nearby blocks. We know which patients will be grumpy and which ones bring us sweets. That's just how life goes here in New Alipore. We don't overcomplicate things; we just open the doors and get to it.
