Ashirbad Art Saloon

Ashirbad Art Saloon is situated in Prafulla Kanan, which is part of the Krishnapur area in Kolkata. We are quite close to VIP Road, so it’s not hard to get to us if you’re in the neighborhood. The shop has been around for a while and the name "Art Saloon" was something we liked because we think cutting hair is a bit of a craft. It’s a small, cozy place. We’ve got some pictures on the wall that have been there forever. Krishnapur is a busy place with lots of narrow lanes and people moving about. Our shop at 700101 is a bit of a meeting point for some of the older men who live nearby. They come for a shave but stay for the gossip. It’s nice to have that kind of environment. We don’t have air conditioning, just a couple of good ceiling fans that keep the air moving. It can get pretty humid in the summer, but we are used to it by now. I usually work alongside my cousin. We’ve been doing this since we were young men. We don’t have any fancy equipment, just the standard tools that get the job done right. It’s a local business through and through. We are happy to be part of Prafulla Kanan and serving the people here. It’s just a normal shop for normal folks.
