Anshu Modi Boutique

Anshu Modi Boutique is situated at No. 70 Braunfield Row, right near the Mominpur Crossing in Alipore. It is a very busy area because the Calcutta Hospital is just a short walk away. There are always people and cars moving around outside, which makes the shop feel like it is in the middle of everything. The boutique itself is a modest space where we keep a variety of pieces we have worked on. We have racks and shelves filled with different designs, and sometimes it gets a little crowded when we have a lot of new items. We spend our days answering the phone, talking to the people who do our tailoring, and helping anyone who walks in the door. It is not a very formal place. You might see some thread on the floor or a pile of fabrics waiting to be sorted on the counter. We don't have a large staff, so we do most of the chores ourselves, from dusting the glass to tagging the clothes. The lighting inside is okay, but we often move things closer to the door to see the colors better in the natural light. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so the fan is always on. Most of our customers are people who are already in the Alipore area or those who have been coming to us for years. It is a practical, working boutique where we just focus on getting the clothes ready.
