Anandalok Hospital

You can find us over at BF 85 in Salt Lake City, Sector 1. We are right near Tank Number 5, which is how most people give directions in this part of Bidhan Nagar. The hospital has been around for a good bit now. It is a solid building, nothing too modern or flashy to look at from the street. Inside, it is usually quite busy with people coming and going from the different wards. The floors are that old-fashioned stone that stays cool even when the Kolkata heat is boiling outside. We have got the usual hospital smells of soap and medicine. The reception area has a lot of old ledgers and a computer that hums quite loudly. It is not one of those five-star hospitals you see in the magazines. It is a place for the local residents of Salt Lake and the surrounding areas to get looked at. The staff are mostly local people who have been working here for years. We know the chai wallah outside by name, and he knows when we need our tea. There is always a bit of a crowd near the entrance, especially during visiting hours. The elevators are a bit slow, so most of us just take the stairs to get between the floors. It is a functioning, busy hospital that keeps us on our feet from morning until night every single day. We just focus on the patients and keep going.
