Amri Hospital

Our place is located down at 230 Barakhola Lane. If you know Purba Jadavpur, you know it can get pretty crowded around here. The hospital is a big part of the street life in this area. We see a lot of different people every day. Some are coming from far away and others just live a few blocks down the road. The morning starts early with the shift change. You can hear the sounds of the city starting up outside while we are getting the wards ready. It is a busy atmosphere most of the time. We have several floors and a lot of hallways that keep the staff busy walking back and forth. It’s not a quiet place, but hospitals rarely are. We just try to make sure everyone finds where they need to go without getting lost in the corridors. The front desk stays busy with paperwork and phones ringing. Sometimes the elevators take a minute, so a lot of us just use the stairs to save time. We have been part of this neighborhood for a good while now. It feels like we are just another part of the daily rhythm of Jadavpur. We don’t have a lot of time for sitting around. There is always a patient needing something or a room that needs cleaning. We just keep our heads down and do the work that is in front of us. It’s a lot of walking on hard floors, but that's just the job. We keep at it.
