Aman Trading Corporation

Aman Trading Corporation is at 246N, Acharya Prafulla Chandra Road, near Beadon Street. This part of Kolkata has so much history, and you can see it in the old buildings and the narrow lanes nearby. Our office is in one of those buildings where the walls are thick and the ceilings are high. We have stacks of files and ledgers that go back quite a long way. Trading is mostly about keeping track of what’s coming in and what’s going out, so we spend a lot of time checking lists. The street outside is famous for its traffic and the sound of tram bells and horns. It can be quite distracting, but it’s just part of the atmosphere here. We don't have any fancy mission statements or corporate slogans. We just show up, open the books, and start working. Sometimes we have to deal with old wiring or plumbing issues in the building, which is just part of being in an older part of town. Our desks are usually covered in papers and empty tea cups by the end of the day. We know the other traders around Beadon Street, and we often stop to chat when we’re out getting lunch. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, based on knowing people and keeping your word. We aren’t looking to change much about how we operate. We like the way things are and the place where we’ve been for all these years.
