If you are looking for us, we are tucked away at 13 Narayan Prasad Babu Lane. Being near the Satyanarayan AC Market helps people find the general area, but the lane itself is quite narrow and can be tricky to navigate if you aren't local. Our address is a bit long, with all the bits about Hardutt Rai Chamaria Road, but we are just right here in the mix of things. Paridhan is a small shop. We have stacks of clothes piled up because we keep getting new stuff in every week. Sometimes the piles get a bit too high and we have to spend the whole afternoon straightening them out so they don't fall over. The AC from the market nearby doesn't really reach us, so we rely on our old ceiling fans. It gets humid during the monsoon, and the walls feel a bit damp sometimes. We see the same faces every day, mostly other shopkeepers or folks who live right above the shops. We aren't doing anything fancy here. We just open up the shutters, sweep the entrance, and start showing our items to whoever walks in. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait it out in the dark, chatting with the neighbors on the street. It’s a tight space but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home now. The landlord comes by once a month for the rent and we usually have a quick chat.
